Founded in 2008 and headquartered in Gainesville, Texas, Select Water Solutions is a leading provider of water logistics and energy solutions across the US. The company has scaled to approximately 4,200 employees and supports customers across every major unconventional water basin in the country. Select Water takes pride in delivering innovative water and chemical solutions, ensuring their clients are fully equipped to manage water operations efficiently. The company has built a strong reputation among energy operators by combining large-scale infrastructure, advanced technology, and operational expertise to improve efficiency and sustainability. Supporting an operation of this scale requires reliable technology, and trusted partners to help maintain it.
For Jason Sylva, Field IT Manager at Select Water, much of the responsibility for technological infrastructure lies primarily with him. Jason has been with Select Water for over 15 year, and during this time his role has evolved signifi cantly. Scaling alongside the company, what began as a regional technical position has since expanded into a national leadership role, requiring him to oversee IT infrastructure across over
130 locations, supporting more than 3,000 users, and over 1,209 connected devices, including
security cameras, gateways, and sensors.
Today, Jason coordinates eight technicians across the country, overseeing camera deployments, troubleshooting, and large hardware rollouts, such as the current distribution of 485 tablets. Most recently, his team implemented a Single Sign-On
and multi-factor authentication rollout that achieved a
93% adoption rate in just six months.
As the company has grown, so has the complexity of Jason’s role, creating more responsibility for the IT team. Many Select Water sites operate in remote areas of East Texas and New Mexico where traditional sources of power are unavailable, and security systems must rely purely on solar power. Aging equipment, regional storm damage, and the sustainment of infrastructure over multiple states are just some of the many challenges Jason and his team face daily. With limited time and manpower, reliable partners are critical.
Before teaming up with TruePoint Systems, Select Water relied on regional contractors to handle camera installation, cabling, and infrastructure work. Their primary challenges were that some vendors performed well, but others were inconsistent, which ultimately led to greater problems for Jason and his team. Jason recalls several situations in which cameras were installed incorrectly or not sealed entirely, which would consistently lead to extensive repairs and recurring failures. Instead of solving problems, many vendors were escalating the workload for the Select Water team. For someone responsible for more than a hundred locations, even these minor issues would compound exponentially. In Jason’s words, “When something is installed wrong, it doesn’t just fail once…you end up dealing with that problem again later.” Over time, these repeated behaviors created a sense of distrust and a need for an alternative solution.
From Jason’s perspective, TruePoint Systems quickly distinguished itself from other contractors Select Water had dealt with in the past. Today, Select Water intentionally chooses TruePoint. “Whenever possible, I try to use Nathan (Director of Infrastructure) and TruePoint, Jason says. “You guys do a better job, Nathan is very thorough. He takes care of everything and thinks of things other people don’t even bother to consider.” Jason offered a clear example of the TruePoint approach. Another contractor had installed cameras across several sites in West Texas. Many of the installations later failed due to poor workmanship. A TruePoint team traveled through the region to evaluate the faulty systems; TruePoint did not just repair the cameras; they identifi ed the root cause of the problem, corrected the installation, and ensured the systems were secure and reliable. “I’ll pay extra to have him (Nathan) go out there.” Jason said. “Because I know it’s going to get done right, and I won’t have to do it again next year.” When asked to describe TruePoint in three words, Jason answered quickly:
One of the many things that sets TruePoint apart is consistency. “With some contractors you get one good technician and then the leftovers. So far everyone I have worked with at TruePoint has been good.” Communication was another key factor that made an impact on the Select Water team. The technicians at TruePoint were able to communicate clearly and directly with Select Water’s internal team and maintain an open channel of communication by way of weekly standing meetings. This guarantees that the technical and operational departments stay aligned. “We have weekly meetings with Nathan and Heather, Operations Manager from TruePoint where any project or billing questions are concerned, Jason states. “They stay aligned; that level of communication is rare.”
Today, the relationship between Select Water and TruePoint goes well beyond a typical vendor arrangement.
TruePoint Systems has essentially become an “extension” of the Select Water team, Jason explains. The service surpasses installations; the TruePoint team works alongside Select Water to troubleshoot any potential challenges and recommend materials to improve service quality. Through regular collaboration and consistent communication, TruePoint has become much more than a partner. What began as a service engagement has grown into a trusted operational partnership. Companies like Select Water rely on dependable technology partners, and TruePoint has repeatedly delivered expertise and professionalism.
For organizations managing complex organizational structures, having a dependable technology partner makes all the difference. TruePoint continues to support Select Water, for Jason and his team their collaboration is crucial. “When something breaks in the fi eld, I know I can call Nathan and get it handled,” he says.
